🔥 Save this ball strategy for later! 🏀
Did you know the vestibular sense is vital for your child’s development? It’s the very first sense to develop in the womb, helping babies prepare for birth by enabling them to turn their heads down. Here’s why the vestibular system is a BIG DEAL:
🌀 Maintains balance and position
🤝 Coordinates bilateral movements
🌌 Perceives body position in space (especially the head)
🛡️ Promotes feeling safe during movement
These are crucial for hitting gross motor milestones and fostering brain development!
The ball is one of my favorite strategies for building the vestibular system and raising a smart, happy baby! Here’s how to incorporate it into your routine:
1️⃣ Get a yoga ball (or dust off your pregnancy one!)
2️⃣ Establish a twice-daily habit from birth:
– 0-3 months: Bounce with baby in your arms or over your lap
– 3-6 months: Lay them over the ball on their belly and gently bounce and roll (tummy time!)
– 6-9 months: Sit them up on the ball or place them on all fours
– 9-12 months: Stand them up on the ball and bounce gently
These are just a few moves to get you started! 💫
Tag a pregnant momma so she knows the ball is worth getting now! 🙌🏻
