Why I Swapped to a Vibrating Toothbrush for My Baby’s Brain
As a mom, I’m always looking for simple ways to give my child an edge. I’ve learned about tummy time, crawling, and purposeful play, but I recently stumbled upon a secret that’s so simple, it’s almost hard to believe: something as basic as brushing my child’s teeth can actually build their brain.
I used to think a toothbrush was just for cleaning, but I learned that when you use a vibrating toothbrush, you’re doing so much more. You’re stimulating the rooting reflex—one of the earliest reflexes my baby was born with. This reflex is a building block for so many other skills, and if it doesn’t integrate properly, it can be linked to issues later on, like speech delays, messy eating, or even trouble with focus in school.
It makes so much sense when you think about it. Our children’s brains are built in layers, and each reflex is like a step on a ladder. When they integrate properly, the brain can “move up the ladder” to higher skills like speaking clearly and learning confidently. If they get “stuck,” it can affect everything that comes after.
