Did you know the brain doesn’t grow on a schedule? 🧠✨
“The brain grows by use, not by a preordained timetable.” – Glenn Doman
Many people believe that babies will just develop on their own, without any need for purposeful stimulation. But here’s the truth: while growth will happen naturally, how much and how well their brain develops depends on the opportunities we give them—and what we avoid.
What blocks brain growth?
🚫 Swaddles & footed pajamas: These restrict movement, which limits how much babies can explore their body and environment, reducing the sensory input their brain craves.
🚫 Containers (swings, bouncers, walkers, etc.): Spending too much time in devices that confine movement keeps babies from practicing the skills they need to build brain-body connections.
🚫 Lack of stimulation: Many people believe that newborns just eat, sleep, and cry, but they’re actually brilliant little learners from day one! Babies are constantly taking in information about their environment and need stimulation to help their brains grow—through movement, touch, eye contact, and interaction.
How to help their brain grow:
✔️ Encourage movement: Crawling, climbing, jumping, and hanging aren’t just play—they’re vital for developing sensory and motor systems. 👣💪
✔️ Create challenges: Simple obstacles, problem-solving toys, or new textures and spaces help spark creativity and neural growth. 💡
✔️ Engage with purpose: Babies learn the world through their senses! Stimulate their sense of touch (textures), sight (tracking objects), sound (different tones), and even smell. Eye contact, gentle play, and intentional movement help create lasting connections in their brain. 🌈👶
Your baby’s brain doesn’t grow because of time—it grows because of use! The more opportunities you provide (and the fewer restrictive barriers in their way), the stronger their foundation will be. 🧠✨
