Welcome to Day 5 of our 12 Days of unique brain building activities in celebration of Aria’s first birthday! 🎂
Many parents view sensory play as simple fun, not realizing its impact on brain development. In reality, these activities play a significant role in your child’s growth. Sensory play helps build pathways in your baby’s brain, leading to a stronger foundation for complex learning tasks later on.
Your baby was born with a brain full of neurons. Sensory experiences create connections between these neurons. The more varied the experiences, the more robust these pathways become.
Different sensations, like ❄️, hot 🔥, or prickly 🌵, activate unique parts of your baby’s brain. This promotes body awareness and helps develop language skills too! 📚It’s important to continue these sensory activities as your child grows—not just as a baby. It’s an excellent way to boost their cognitive development and motor skills. 🚀
Here are some great textures and sensations to help your baby explore and learn:
– Textures: Soft silk 🧵, Sponge 🧽, Leather 🧥, Corduroy 👖, Netting 🕸️, Fuzzy 🐑, Furry 🐻
– Temperatures: Cold ❄️, Hot 🔥
– Sensations: Prickly 🌵, Smooth 🍬, Bumpy 🏔️
